The Republic of Bulgaria is situated in the middle of the Balkan Peninsula in South-East Europe. This is a pretty small country – by territory (111 000 sq. km), as well as by population: round 8 million people. But it is worth noting the growing international interest toward Bulgaria. What makes Bulgaria so unique is the extraordinary diverse nature with moderate and pleasing climate, akin to the Mediterranean type, the ancient history, the rich cultural heritage and the hospitable contemporary people. Not for nothing the ancient Greeks called Black Sea "The Hospitable Sea".

Not once or twice, the neighboring countries have called Bulgaria "A Security Island" on the Balkan Peninsula. From 01st January 2007 Bulgaria will become a member of the European Union. The intercultural and ethnical tolerance established in Bulgaria, serves as a model of understanding on the Balkans.
